The children of the rich lead and control, while the poor join the army and the police
They sell our present to own the future.? They use the past to justify and legitimatize their control over our national fate and resources. This is what the rich families and the political parties or so called nationalist parties have been doing for nearly six decades in beloved Morocco.
The same faces and the same names have colonized and inherited the administrations, the ministries, the political parties and the civil organizations. You find their family names wherever you go in the field of the economy, politics, sports, medicine, justice and injustice too.
The same family names and same family trees are spreading their nets and roots under our grounds and controlling our water, air, earth and skies. They are the businessmen, the doctors, the engineers, the ministers, the High delegates, the governors and the intellectuals as well.
They divided the roles and they cut the national cow with their sharpened knives after independence. They drink the milk, eat the meat and sell the skin. The nation for them is but a cake that they should divide between them.
When our grandfathers took up arms and defended the of territorial integrity of the nation, these ?intelligent? people sent their children to French and Spanish universities to study and get degrees.
They were preparing them for the post-independence era to be the leaders of independence. This is what happened and this is what happens now in different colors and in different shapes and names.
Today, the children of the poor are crowded in classrooms spending their childhood and youth gaining no skills and no competencies. The majority of public school students are good at doing nothing.
Teachers know this more than anyone else. To evaluate our educational system, we should listen to teachers not to ministers. Teachers know that students? heads are empty and their thinking organs are dead. They are but walking and eating, having no hopes and no aspirations.
To say the truth, which is our path in life, most of the students who graduate from public schools are limited in thinking and in talents. Those who are considered optimists dream of being soldiers or policemen.
I have taught for nearly 12 years now. Most of my luckiest students are soldiers, elements of the auxiliary forces or policemen. I will never forget the day I was walking with a friend of mine in Agadir and I was surprised to meet more than six ex-students of mine wearing the police uniform.
After talking to them, my friend asked me whether I was teaching in a public school or in a military academy. He went on joking saying that all his students are but school drop-outs and drug addicts while mine are policemen.
Well, while the children of the poor join the army and the police services, the rich of the country and the children of those same families who tricked our grandfathers during the war for independence are doing the same with us today.
They have their children taught in European and American universities both inside and outside Morocco. Their children find it easy to register in private high schools, and universities like Al Akhaywn university, while the children of the masses and the children of the soldiers are suffering in our universities where they learn by heart the same lessons? and the same stories their fathers? had studied in the sixties and the seventies from the same university teachers .
Tackling this issue was just for the sake of asking till when they will continue on tricking us and tricking the whole nation? Is it our fate as children of the poor to join the army and defend the country that the rich steal and exploit? Why do the children of the rich refuse to join the royal armies and the police forces?
Questions like these, which need some courage to be tackled are rarely raised in our country. While waiting for just answers, let?s cry the beloved Morocco.
